I am in Physical Therapy school! In May this year I started my career by beginning a doctorate of physical therapy program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Ut. It is a 2.5 half year program that will last till December of 2012. I am really excited for this opportunity and I am having a great time learning the in and outs of this great profession. Wish me luck!!!

My Mission

Well, moving down the list on things that viewers would like to hear about from me on my blog is my mission. I went on a Mormon Mission from Jan 02 through Feb 04. I was fortunate to be called to serve in the Republic of Korea in the mission of Deajon. It was an amazing experience that increased the understanding of so many things in my life. I grew spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally. The people of Korea are so gracious and I will have eternal friends from the other side of the world.

I loved the food that I was feed in Korea. I was able to eat many things that I would never guess would be considered food and I was able to adapt my taste buds to feast on hot and spicy foods that always was a problem for me in the past. Fear Factor would be a cake walk for me if they still ran the show.

The Korean language is extremely tough but through prayer and fasting and the priesthood I was able to learn the language and was able to teach with the Spirit with it. What an amazing blessing that was to bare testimony in a foreign tongue and have people of that nation understand and feel your sincerity.

I had lots of support from home and had many letters travel around the world to bring a smile to my face in times of need. I will not lie and say that some letters did not always bring that full Will Sykes smile but every letter that I got was a blessing. Also, knowing that everything happens for a reason and the in way that God wants it is truly comforting.

Upon returning home I had an amazing welcoming party at the airport with friends and family. They welcomed me home with open arms a new Will that was more prepared and had more knowledge about life and love than they every could imagine.

Well, there is a time in your life where you have to let go off something very dear to you and that has been with you for the last ten years of my life. I have had a lot of memories, good and bad, yet they are priceless. I am selling my truck. Good ol' Cincinnati. It's time to up grade to the 4X4 with a little bit more room. If you know anybody that is in need of a great truck let me know. If anybody would like to write something about my truck it is merited at this time.

Jenna is my sister-in-law. She is an amazing person that has plans for her life. She is currently in school to become a nurse and I am sure she will do awesome with it. My wife and I talk about our families a lot and when we talk about Jenna we just start laughing. She has a great smile and is not afraid to laugh at anything and everything. She speaks her mind yet is caring and has empathy for any and all dealing with hardship. You just cant but love this girl.

OK, surgery is over! But the pain will be around for a while. Not to mention that my dominant hand in non-functional for the next however-many weeks. And luckily, the Oxycontin works for the first two hours of the 4 hour dosage, yet seems to work all 4 hours in loopiness. Bri took a video of me when I got home, and I think that this is how I would be if I was drunk.

Pet Peeve's

Well, I figured that I should probably write a blog post since my new year's resolution has totally failed thus far. So I am writing down a list or pet peeves that I have. Enjoy...

There is no particular order.

President speeches that push back "The Biggest Loser" so far that the DVR only recorded 15 minutes of an hour show.
Swearing in general, but most of all when a swear word is said in every sentence multiple times.
Pistachio nuts that don't have the nut in them.
Cold french fries.
Driving near Leisure World.
The Dollar Movies going out of business.
4 way stop sign when all four cars get there at the same time. Honestly, who goes first?!?
Noise hair danglers.
The eye brow... yes, singular.
10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife.
Meeting the man of your dreams... and his beautiful wife. Isnt it Ironic?
Thursdays that feel like Fridays.
Braille signs at drive through windows.
When you call a company and you have to push one to speak in the tongue of your own country.
When somebody drives for miles with their turn signals are on.
The way people act when you try and tell them that their turn signal is on.
Out of breath after tieing your shoes.
Forgetting to put your towel by the shower curtain before entering the shower to ensure not to freeze dashing for the towel on the door 5 steps away.
Using the last piece of tolet paper at a friends house, yet needing just one more piece to finish the job.
People using coupons at the Dollar store.
That for some reason people still don't listen to Jack Bauer.

Pinky in Pieces

Last week, we were in the championships for the Mesa City League Softball Tournament. My wicked 12-foot arch was eating up the competition .... until a 1-2 curve ball decided to return to my throwing hand with great velocity. Being only 40 feet from the plate, my pinky decided to take one for the team, meaning it receives the Purple Heart Award and the Medal of Honor for saving my children's lives. Christmas and a New Years Resolution

Well, Christmas was awesome this year. The Shirley Family came into good ol' Gilbert, Arizona. They loved that there was no snow on the ground all week while they were here. We were able to play games and just laugh all week. I could not have asked for a better gift from them, considering they forgot mine in UT. :) Just playing, the mail didn't get it to them fast enough... I like to give them a hard time.

So, one of my New Year Resolutions deals with this Blog that I have. I am committing to making 1 blog post a week through the year. So today's post in week 1. Now, this does not limit me to 1 a week but I wanted to start out with a good yet attainable goal. Don't give up on me everybody!!!

Tony Stewarts Car...

So I went to Wal-mart on Wednesday and to my surprise Tony Stewart's NASCAR was sitting out front. It was awesome! This car will be the car that Tony drives at Talladega in a few weeks. Lucky enough I brought my camera and it had video capability. So the promoter of Tony's Subway car asked if i would like to hear the car run..... OF COURSE!!! Here is the video. Make sure you turn up your speakers.... :)

One of the funnest things that I do in my life is being an Uncle. I love my niece, Holly, to death that I can't get enough of her when I visit her. She truly is magnificent and you just feel amazing when you hold her and she looks at you and smiles. I posted multiple pictures of Holly on here to show you how adorable she is. Can't wait to have a little angel of my own... (not an announcement)

Nascar...

I LOVE NASCAR!!! There are a lot of people out there that love Nascar and that is why it is the most popular sport in America when it comes to viewers and attendies of the race. However, there are a lot of haters out there. Complaints of boredom or redundancy are the biggest ones. The people that usually make these remarks have never watched a race or have never really given it a chance. I don't see how a person that watches a full race could not have his or her heart racing (no pun intended) with 10 laps left on old tires and barely enough gas in the tank to finish. The watch the restarts of a race that have cars going three wide around a 25 degree banking turn at 160 miles an hour and bump and tap each other for position.

Then there is the favorite driver complex. You love to hate one driver while you hate to love another. Yet all those feelings are present during each race. And the anomaly of it is that the love/hate relationships change each week with each race. One person that I will always like is the son of the elate Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr. He is the man! Both are for that matter! Who could ever debat that Dale Earnhardt revolutionized the sport and that through his legacy and unfortunate death that he would still be influencing safety in Nascar. His son, my favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., is also on his way of establishing a legacy of his own. He is the most popular driver in racing and he lives up to the accolades that are given to him.

What a great role model for everybody. I root for Dale! He is the driver that I will always love no matter what... Kyle Busch on the other hand... grrrr.

Every morning when I go to work, I wake myself up by going to a website that has everything that a die hard BYU fan needs for his daily sports nourishment. The site is cougarfan.com. This site takes any news from around the country that deals with BYU in any way and compiles it at this site. It is great! I get my fill every morning on the goings on of my Alma Mater and favorite team.

John Beck...

As a loyal BYU fan I definitely keep tabs on the former stars of BYU Football. Currently John Beck is in his Second year with the Miami Dolphins. There has been lots of scrutiny on Beck from the 1-15 season last year but Beck only started a few of those games and he had a really bad team. I found a few articles that I enjoyed about him and I hope that he wins the starting job this next season.
